Where's Mother?

Do you find that if you are the one who usually takes the family photos there's a dearth of images of you?

Having downloaded a recent crop of pictures from Son's birthday and Father's Day, I noticed that amongst the 30 or so photos there was not one of me. It's true that I hate pictures of myself, so I'll not be ushering anyone else to get behind the camera and start clicking it in my direction. However, for the sake of posterity, it'd be nice to see that I too was there. It'd be nice to know what I was wearing on that particular occasion, or how fat/thin/wrinkled/drunk I was.

Instead there are pictures of the table setting.

And here, a picture of my hand. So I was there after all!

Hi! Me, too! I love taking pictures too much and I don't have many of myself...

Yes this happens here too.. or because of that, Darren takes a load of me all at once, all awful .. all of them I hate. So that is why I occasionally use the web camera to document my presence on this earth xx
Like your photos by the way that Finnish cake looks divine !

Yep, this is what my two teenage children nowadays complain about. There are countless photos of them with their Dad but only a handful of them has their mother in them. Well, at least things have improved a bit since they are now the main photographers in our family. I hate being in photos too so I am not that bothered, other than sometimes feeling a little guilty when thinking of the future great-grandchildren's guest to find out what their great-grandmother looked like in her time.

I have recently found your blog and have been checking for updates ever since. Being a fellow Finn and also having lived in England at an earlier time of my life it has been fun reading it. Keep up the good work!

Terveisin,
Anne

For the first 8 years of my relationship with Philip, there were no photos of us together - just pictures of him taken by me or me taken by him. It wasn't till our wedding day that we got a set of photos with both of us in!

I found that when I went through our photos after my husband died. There are photos with him and the children; there are photos of me and the children - but there were hardly any with all 4 of us.

I always complain to my husband that he never takes any pictures of me. He compliments me a lot, so it is not as if he thinks I am too ugly:-D
BTW, any chance of you sharing the recipe for that lovely cake (or a link), please?

If anyone in my house gets a camera out, I run for the hills!

Looks like a wonderful cake. Save a piece for me will you? ;)
I'm just the same when it comes to cameras, hate to be in front of the lenses. Totally!

This is obviously a common problem.

I'm so sad to hear the lack of family photos Alienne. I think you reminded us all why it's important to take them however much we dislike being photographed.

The recipe for the cake is simply the same as for cinnamon buns here. Instead of baking them separately, you place them (straight) cut side up in a buttered loose-bottom tin and bake at a slightly lower temperature (180C) for 20-25 minutes. Enjoy!
